Staff and Dependents Tuition & Fee Scholarship

The University Staff Senate is committed to helping staff members grow and improve their work skills and knowledge at 性色视频.  By offering this scholarship it builds employee confidence, increases job competency, expands access to industry professionals, and enhances potential for career growth.

Applications & Timelines

Fall Scholarship application:  Due February 1

Spring Scholarship application:  Due November 1

Awardees will be notified within 2 months of application deadline.

Purpose

The University Staff Senate Scholarship:  Staff and Dependents Tuition & Fee Scholarship has been established with contributions to the 性色视频 Foundation and is sponsored by The University Staff Senate of 性色视频 (WSU).  The goal in establishing this scholarship is to help in the advancement of WSU employees and their dependents. The University Staff Senate feels by establishing a scholarship for WSU employees/dependents they are encouraging employees/dependents to start or continue toward a bachelor鈥檚 degree at 性色视频.

Award Size

Scholarship awards are dependent on fund availability.  The maximum amount per award is set at $1,000.00, with typical awards of $250.00-$500.00 per semester, per person.

Definitions

Benefit-eligible staff employee:  a staff member holding a 0.5 FTE or greater position at the University, as an unclassified professional employee or a university support staff.  

Dependent children:  natural, step, or adopted children of a University Benefit-eligible employee, under the age of 26, and who are unmarried.

Eligibility & Application Requirements

  • Must be fully admitted to a degree-seeking undergraduate academic program at the University.

  • Must be pursuing your first bachelor's degree.

  • Complete the application and the essay.  The essay and an unofficial copy of your transcript (high school graduated, community college, or WSU) should be sent to staffsenatescholarship@wichita.edu.

  • The essay should include a brief overview of your contributions to the 性色视频 community at large and your personal long-range goals.  It should also highlight why you deserve the scholarship and how you anticipate using your degree.

Procedure

  • Employee and Dependent Children must be admitted to a degree-seeking undergraduate academic program at the University to be eligible.  They may be part-time students.  Only the first undergraduate bachelor degree is eligible for this scholarship.  Employees and Dependent Children must be admitted into a program in the semester for which they are applying for the scholarship.
  • To maintain eligibility for further awards of this scholarship, the Employee and Dependent Children must be in good academic standing and not on academic probation.
  • This scholarship is available for classes taken during the fall or spring semesters.
  • Funds will be awarded as they are available.
  • Employees and each Dependent Child must submit the application by the specified deadline for each semester.  Late applications will be automatically denied and there will be no exceptions.

Jasmine Sosa picture

Jasmine Sosa ($250)

Jasmine is a new staff member with the Ronald E. McNair Program and is excited to resume her studies in Business. She hopes to empower entrepreneurial minds and foster 性色视频鈥檚 small business community by educating students as a future business professor.

Maria Wehby picture

Maria Wehby ($250)

Maria is the office coordinator for the School of Education at WSU. She is working towards a marketing degree and applying her studies to improve her professional role. Maria enjoys spending time with her daughter and is dedicated to achieving success in both her career and education.

William Sandler picture

William Sandlin ($1,000)

William is an incoming first-year student at 性色视频 (WSU) and a dependent of two WSU employees. He will graduate from 性色视频 Southeast High School, where he participated in baseball, debate, and multiple clubs. William served as a mentor to freshmen students and earned awards as a sports reporter in the journalism program. He plans to pursue a major in Political Science at WSU.
